Vintage Necklaces

This season, it’s all about romantic flapper-esque necklaces that are a little bit show-girly and a little bit vintage. Taking style cues from the 40s, 50s and 60s, long necklaces are back in the spotlight. The best thing about these pieces is that they are extremely wearable on many different women.

In the office – If you want to wear long vintage necklaces to work, keep the rest of your look modern and in check. Try pairing multiple strands of long pearl necklaces with a great tailored blazer for a look that would have even Coco Chanel’s seal of approval.

For drinks with the girls – Try adding a few long necklaces of varying material to a pretty feminine blouse, distressed jeans and ballet flats. If you choose a high neck blouse in chiffon, silk or satin, throw on a few long necklaces of pearls mixed with chain link and rhinestones to add interest and keep the look balanced. Or, go for a great floral pendant mixed with pearl necklaces of varying length for a modern take on these classic stones.

For a special event – If you’re getting ready for an event such a date night or even a wedding, you’ll want to look extra special. Go for a dark romantic vibe and choose pearls in different colors like silver. This is the time when you can really go all out with jewelry, so don’t be too safe. Instead, add on layers of vintage looking necklaces to achieve a youthful fun vibe.

So just because it’s almost 2010, doesn’t mean that you can’t bring back the best of eras past. The forties, fifties and sixties offered romantic pieces, swing styles and notes of femininity that we’ve come to miss. Thankfully, we’re seeing the revival of some of these trends in the form of vintage inspired necklaces that are simply charming.
